Annika Pillado
Licensed Associate counselor
Annika received her Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and is a Licensed Associate Counselor under the supervision of Samuel Bryant, LPC. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University. During her time in college she enjoyed combining her love of the arts and mental health by pursuing mental health advocacy through poetry. Since then, she has experience counseling young adult women and men in the college setting and school-aged children with autism and ADHD. She draws her counseling style from the techniques of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She also utilizes skills in distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and mindfulness.
Annika believes one of the greatest gifts of counseling is finding new ways to live the freedom God has given you and to uncover the person you were made to be. In the counseling process, Annika brings openness, hope, and authenticity while being flexible to meet her client’s goals for counseling. She enjoys the journey of building a relationship with clients and nurturing a safe space to explore the ups and downs of life. Her faith informs her non-judgemental perspective and care for each soul. She loves to ground each session in the present moment while also understanding the background that each person comes from.
She has a special interest in women’s issues and has experience leading a Magdala group for women’s healing from sexual addictions with a foundation of faith and community.
Outside of counseling, Annika enjoys spending time dancing in the kitchen, writing poems that don’t rhyme, exploring wild Arizona with her husband, and finding new ways to live slowly.
